The Topsail Beach Top Secret Hike Returns on Nov. 4
TOPSAIL BEACH – The Topsail Beach Top Secret Hike was among the most popular hikes during the Year of the Trail celebration in Pender County.
Due to popular demand, The Historical Society of Topsail Island, Missiles and More Museum, and Pender County Tourism will present the Topsail Beach Top Secret Hike again on Nov. 4.
Hikes will step off from the Missiles and More Museum at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
“This is a free 1-mile, family fun hike,” said Ann Tumblin, who created the hike for the local historical society. “The entire path is paved which makes the Top-Secret Hike wheelchair and stroller accessible.”
There is no fee to join the hike, which will include stops at historic sites from Operation Bumblebee, the top-secret mission that developed guided rocket and missile technology. Pets are not permitted.
“We ask that hikers register for one of the three time slots,” said Tammy Proctor, Pender County Tourism Director. “If groups get too large, it makes it difficult to hear the guide.”
Register for a time slot by calling the tourism office at 910-259-1278 or 910-789-2971.
