History of the Historical Society of Topsail Island
Founded in 1984, The Historical Society of Topsail Island (HSTI) has as its mission the collection, preservation, and promotion of the history of the Greater Topsail Island Area. For almost 40 years HSTI has fulfilled its mission by the restoration of the Historic Assembly Building, which is used as an event venue, and by the creation and operation of the Missiles and More Museum. As a further service to the community HSTI offers the monthly Lecture-Luncheon series, annual Scholarship Awards, the Summer Aquarium Program, the Summer Bingo Program, the Autumn With Topsail arts and music festival, Historical Walking Tour of Topsail Beach, the Ghost Walk, and the Jingle Bell Ball.
